Dan Ryan Builders:
Better Value, Better Living

First impressions are everything, and Dan Ryan Builders wants the first thing that comes to a new home shopper’s mind to be that its homes provide the best value for the money.

Over the years, Dan Ryan Builders has completed thousands of homes in more than 70 communities throughout six mid-Atlantic and Southern states and, in the process, has earned a respected name in the industry. Dan Ryan Builders is regularly included in Builder magazine on its Top 100 Builders list, ranking 50th in the most recent issue. As the company grows and expands its services, Dan Ryan Builders continues to focus on customer service, bringing its trademark “Better Value, Better Living” to new neighborhoods, and staying true to its mission of creating the best value in homeownership.

Dan Ryan Builders’ commitment to quality and value is unwavering, and homeowner satisfaction is the company’s top priority. Creating the best value in homeownership is the ultimate goal of each Dan Ryan Builders employee, and the best value, to them, means the optimal combination of price, quality and service. Every action and effort by management, employees, subcontractors and suppliers is expended with the best interests of Dan Ryan Builders’ customers and communities in mind.

The Dan Ryan Builders approach to customer satisfaction is simple: They build every Dan Ryan Builders home as if they were going to live in it themselves. They build it right. Then they follow up with responsive service, whenever and wherever it’s needed. Immediately following each settlement, they provide owners with a phone number to call for prompt, professional service. They make every effort to respond within 24 hours and to handle emergency calls without delay. From blueprint to move-in – and beyond – the company’s experienced, dedicated and resourceful staff is always looking for ways to make each Dan Ryan Builders home the best it can be in every way.

Year after year, Dan Ryan Builders continues to build on its achievements, only getting better and better. Understanding that first impressions, along with a reputation for excellence, are springboards to customer satisfaction and company success, Dan Ryan Builders is taking homebuilding to a whole new level in the Greater Charleston area, reflecting the company’s corporate vision of expansion. And that expanded vision not only applies to the local geographic area, but also includes thinking outside the box, with exciting home collections, novel floor plans, modern features and, of course, neighborhood “A” locations.

Part of the Dan Ryan Builders expansion is to add dynamic new plans and collections. Each collection will feature new plans in addition to the company’s most popular plans, offering an impressive array of choices to meet homebuyers’ differing wants and needs.

“At Dan Ryan Builders, we are never satisfied,” says Charleston Division President Curt Wegner. “We're always looking for ways to improve upon what we do, whether it be neighborhood development, floor plans and/or home features. We are constantly analyzing area markets and looking for ways to best serve our customers. Our buyers’ needs and opinions are what matter to us, and providing those buyers true and lasting value is what drives us.

“During our annual review of our product offering, we saw the need to offer more ranch plans, first-floor owner suites and really, more space overall. Recognizing this need led to the development of our new Signature collection. From concept to design to building, this new product line has been well-received by our buyers. With our diverse and extensive home collections we are now even better able to find floor plan solutions to fit new home shoppers’ needs. We know our customers will see the value we deliver as soon as they visit a Dan Ryan Builders community.”

At Dan Ryan Builders, the Production Department continues to employ industry best practices in order to deliver homes of the highest possible quality. Its building techniques continue to expand and become more exact.

“Offering greater efficiency and money savings in the overall cost of running and maintaining your home matters to us,” explains Lee Mackin, Production Manager for Dan Ryan Builders - Charleston. “We've added such features as touch faucets, tankless water heaters, radiant barrier sheathing, specialized installation – and more – to provide better efficiency and savings. We're always looking for home features that will save our homeowners money and reduce the overall cost of operating their homes. This spring, we're excited about introducing HERS testing to all of our homes. HERS is one of the more recognized energy home rating services in the marketplace.”

A HERS (Home Energy Rating Systems) energy-rated home is one that has been assigned a savings operating cost rating after being industry-tested, rated and indexed by an independent third-party inspector. While the well-known Energy Star home designation is simply a yes/no certification, the HERS index rates actual energy efficiency and estimated annual cost savings, allowing one to compare the efficiency of new code-built homes to that of existing homes. The lower the HERS rating of a home, the more energy-efficient it is. A new code-built home typically has a HERS rating of 100, so a home with a score of 75 would be 25% more energy-efficient than a characteristic new code-built home. A used home, however, could have a HERS rating of 125 (or higher) and cost an additional 25% or more to operate than a new home that scores 100 or lower on the HERS index.

“Our building practices, such as 16″ on-center stud construction, provide further confidence to our customers,” Mackin continues. “The 16″ on-center, versus the 24″ on-center that most builders utilize, means our construction is tighter and sturdier, which is especially important to coastal living, not to mention the energy savings. Our corporate philosophy has always been to provide the best value in homeownership.”

Quality assurance is a given, with Dan Ryan Builders management inspections ensuring compliance with high standards of quality construction. Sturdy, reliable components are used in every aspect of every home, from foundation to roof, as well as in up-to-date standard and optional features. Dan Ryan Builders’ response to customers is prompt and thorough. Throughout the organization, the company strives to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Every Dan Ryan Builders home comes with a 10-Year Structural Warranty by Quality Builders Warranty Corporation (QBW), the most selective warranty program in the industry. Only builders who meet a strict set of standards for consistently creating quality homes and providing dedicated service to their customers earn the right to offer the QBW warranty.
